There were many cases of taxi
inconveniences / complaints received by tourist information centers from
foreigners visiting Korea.
In particular, the biggest
inconvenience / complaints were Taxi's unfair (overpricing) charging,
unnecessary long routes, being unable to communicate linguistically with the
taxi driver, and being denied to board by the taxi for the only reason of being
a foreigner.
Currently, the taxi fare
system in Korea is based on the "taxi meter", which is a structure
based on paying the meter charge from the start destination to the end
destination. Due to this post-payment system, there is a steady stream of
disputes between customers and taxi drivers about the route / fee.
It is easy especially for to
find press reports that there are many unfair fees on foreigners.
HonestTicket has started from
the idea from the question "What if we change the current taxi fee
payment's structure from the post-payment system (Board on taxi > arriving
to destination > fee payment) to a pre-paid payment system (Fee payment >
board on taxi > arriving to destination) which came from the hope of
enabling foreign visitors who are tired from their long flight journeys to fall
asleep in the taxi to their reserved accommodations and also the hope of
enabling them with their tired bodies due to a business trip to rest without
worries from unfair fees inside the taxi when heading towards the long-lined
airport.

HonestTicket Introduction
The HonestTicket is a system
that when the "customer" takes the mobile ticket received by
pre-paying (ticketing) from the HonestTicket application (APP) and scans it
after boarding on the taxi on the application (APP) made for the driver, the
taxi driver is able to automatically take care of the ride until the
destination.
Language support
- The
HonestTicket application (APP) for customers is provided in English, Japanese,
Chinese, and Korean. In other countries, the customers and the taxi drivers
will not have to go through inconveniences of language interactions since when
used with the English version, the destination address search and payment
inputs will appear in the language of the country.Installation and Registration
- The "Customer" after searching on the Google Play Store can install the "HonestTicket" application (APP) then sign up. (The "Taxi Driver" after searching on the Google Play Store can install the "HonestTicket" application (APP) then register as driver.)
Departure Place
- The current departure place is only available from the specified departure places.
- The HonestTicket's main departure places will be firstly applied from places with needs related to foreigners such as airports, hotels, cultural sightseeing spots, and shopping centers. Currently, the beta testing is done in the Incheon National Airport and Jeju Island, and it will be expected to be expanded in the future to be available in all other places.
Fee
Calculation
- The HonestTicket
automatically calculates according to the company's algorithm and will present
in advance the meter fee based on the minimum time of the pathway of the
specified departure place to the destination which were set by the customer.
Payment
- You can pay the charge
amounts from the fee calculation through PayPal or KG Inicis payment modules.
Since there are no extra charges after the payments, unfair charges will be
blocked.
Reservation
Function
- Currently the HonestTicket
supports the reservation function only with situations that have the airport
set as the departure place. Please note that the tickets are only activated for
30 minutes before and after the reservation time.
Mobile
Ticket
- When you make a payment,
the mobile ticket (QRCode) will be created in the application (APP). The
customers will be able to comfortably use the service without additional extra
charges if they scan the mobile ticket on the driver's application (APP) after
boarding on the taxi.

Ticket Usage Time
- The mobile tickets can only
be used up to 30 minutes before departure time and 30 minutes after departure
time. At any other times, it will be disabled and will be unusable. Customers
who have just purchased can use their tickets within the 30 minutes after the
time of payment. After 30 minutes of the ticket activation time, the ticket will
be unusable and will be automatically cancelled.
Cancellation
- After the HonestTicket purchase, cancellation will be possible inside the application (APP) within 30 minutes and will be automatically cancelled after 30 minutes.

HonestTicket Directions on Usage.
1. Installation and
registration (APP)
- After installing the
"HonestTIcket" application (App), register as a member. (registration
available as Facebook, NAVER, Kakao, E-mail)
2. Taxi Boarding Information
Selection (APP)
-Click on the ticketing button,
select the departure place available in the current location, then select your
destination. (The selection of the destination is available on the address
search or the map) - Select the toll-road-usage selection and the taxi type (private, deluxe, call van).
3. Fee calculation and
payment (APP)
- If you selection the fee
calculation button, the taxi fee will be calculated. After confirming the fee
and selecting the payment button, it will move to the payment module. (Payment
module: PayPal, kg Inicis) The ticket is automatically made when the payment is
finished.
4. Taxi Boarding
-The mobile ticket (QRCode)
in the application (App) will be activated. After boarding the taxi, have the
taxi driver run the application (App) for drivers and place the mobile ticket
so that it is well seen on the front facing camera of the taxi driver's phone.
When the scan is done, it is finished!

Destination Arrival
-When
arrived at the destination, make sure to confirm if the destination is correct
before getting off. Since it is pre-paid, there is no additional extra charges.

# Reasons to choose the HonestTicket
Interaction Difficulty NO!
-The
customer will not experience difficulty in language interactions with the taxi
driver since all the information for the taxi boarding
(destination/time/payment fee and etc) will be marked in the HonestTicket.
Unfair (Overpricing) charging worries NO!
-You will
not have to worry about the disputes (disputes on charges/ route disputes) with
the taxi driver since the HonestTicket calculates the fee with the minimum time
and is prepaid.
Card Payment OK!
-Because the card payment is
made in advance through the Honest Ticket application, there is no additional
fees needed to be paid after boarding on the taxi. If, additional charges are
asked for, please contact the customer center right away.
Transportation

-As soon as the driver scans
the ticket, the customer's ticket and the taxi driver will be matched up and
stored on the HonestTicket server, allowing you to travel to your destination
with greater ease.

in Cancellation NO!
-The HonestTicket can be
directly cancelled by the customer within 30 minutes of the taxi payment, and
the ticketing will be automatically cancelled after 30 minutes of payment.
Since there are no additional fees needed for cancellations, it is a lot easier
to use.
Calculating
Travel Expenses in Advance OK!
Since the HonestTicket can
calculate taxi fees before you travel, you will be able to plan a more
organized trip.
